![]() ![]() The transducer looks just like a normal speaker, albeit beefier, I guess so that it can induce the vibration feeling into the keys. Luckily it's easily accessible from underneath after removing the bottom cover, so I was able to replace it myself. One time, one of the transducers that produce this vibration failed, resulted in a crackling sound when played, and I had to order a replacement transducer from Yamaha to replace it with. ![]() With the TRS, if you turn off the volume completely with TRS enabled, you can still hear a faint sound that accompanies the key strokes as you play, along with the vibration feeling from the keys, which is more pronounced from the lower octave keys and less pronounced from the higher octave keys, which is to be expected. Well, I don't own an N3X, but I do own an N3, which has the same soundboard resonator.Īnd indeed, it's not the same as the Tactile Response System. Maybe someone can confirm if they hear nothing (or something) coming out of the soundboard on their N3 or N3X to confirm if mine is broken? Maybe that’s why I can’t hear anything coming out of the soundboard because it’s so short and the effect is meant to be subtle and it’s also being disguised by the piano sound already coming out of the speakers near by. Maybe that’s why yamaha mentions something on their website about it being mostly noticeable on the higher notes because that’s where you do hear it the most on a real acoustic piano. Maybe the soundboard resonator is the short wooden/metallic tapping sound you hear coming out of the soundboard on a real acoustic piano when you play the higher notes. ![]() I’m beginning to think possibly the soundboard resonator feature is not some kind of long tone but a short tone. It’s supposed to do something but I can’t hear anything coming out of it. It has two transducers attached to a large section at the top of the piano behind the music rest. The N3 and N3X have an additional feature that yamaha calls a soundboard resonator. ![]()
